Preservation

Dear World,

Hope you're doing fine over there, I just finished my last paper for the 2nd term, which signals my 2 week break until my 3rd term commences. It seems like when the term was underway that classes were taking forever, and I mean forever for some lectures like Food Science & Sanitation. But now it is a different story all together, I find myself going, just like how I did during the last term break, "didn't we just start the term last month?". No doubt the two terms have been a blast at times, but a dud at most, but I still insist on the fact that the terms pass by too fast when we're having only a little fun.

World, I'll be visiting you after term 3, it's a program called Industrial Training and it's where I'll pick a hotel/restaurant to conduct my training in. We're going to have so much fun! I wish hope that I could go visit you with my friends though, going alone would mean so much accumulated boredom as each day passes by in that tiny pantry which contains me and 25 kilos of potatoes, waiting to be peeled. World, I also want to go with a specific someone, I really like this person and hope that the person likes me back too, but do you think it's pestering if had I taken this person along? I'm having doubts.

Anyways, I just wanted to tell you about what I'm going to do and have been doing this past 3 wonderful months. Kitchen classes got more fun as we learned more, perhaps this really is where I belong and not in front of a computer and a random string of 1s and 0s. Overall, the course I picked is the right one, but my friends in college make it an even better choice. Not that I'm saying your other friends like Sunway or KDU are harbouring bad people, but it's just that I feel in place here. Thanks for recommending it to me.

There's this one other thing I've been wondering, what do your children do when they have a whole two weeks holiday but it's during the fasting month? Ever since I got home from just now, after I took a short nap, I've been thinking to myself: How do I make this holiday worth it? Again, it would be pestering to my pals and I if had I gone out everyday, not to mention how unbeneficial it is. I thought of working in the kitchen at Sunway Lagoon again, but remnants of the terrible drainage system told me otherwise.

I don't know what's going to happen yet, but overall it's been a good half a year, hope you're doing alright even though I've been hearing that you ran into trouble recently with Indonesia and Pakistan. World, please take Antacid or Gelusil if you're having gastric problems, don't let my Indonesian friends worry about their families. As for Pakistan, I understand how the bridge was wrongly built on you, so take it easy as they are patching up the hole as you are reading this letter.

I'm off to sleep now as it's pretty late and I have an early day, me and a friend are going to search for birthday presents for our friends, such a coincidence how most of your children that we know have birthdays which are so close to each other. Do take care of yourself and always remember that no matter how selfish or inconsiderate we are, we want you to be healthy and protected too. As for me, I'm trying my best to recycle whenever I get the chance.

Warmest regards,
    Andy

Leon Ng Fanclub Starter Kit

OMG! I just joined the I Love Leon Ng (ILLN) fanclub the other day, had to pay a whole USD0.20 to get in but it was all worth it! Got a cap, t-shirt, razor blades, a Nokia hands-free and everything! But of all the stuff I got, the best was still this printable dynamic (that means that it moves!) postcard which you could send to your past loved ones (you know, the ones that you manja-ly named after a fruit or some crap like that.)

Enjoy!

Six Random Things

In a state of NBTDness, not to mention with a blank mind, this is all I can think up of. Bear with me only la.

6 random factors that give me a little edge to others.

1) I drive like a CB, but I still use my blinkers.
- Due to my natural unpunctuality, I tend to drive like I just took prune juice an hour ago and am in desperate need of a loo. However, I still respect other road users, I cilok with concern and care, looking out for every auntie, uncle, leng lui, leng zhai, youngster, oldster on the road by simply using my signal lights when I swerve in and out of traffic. To me this is pretty helpful la cause when an el-cheapo Gen2 is passing by you at high speeds and looks like it maybe, just maybe wants to swerve in infront of you, a warning is definitely a get-out-of-jail card.

2) I don't smoke, I hate the 2nd hand one, but I'd still help you buy a pack.
- In this modern age I believe that 9/10 children are bound to start smoking due to some reason. Don't ask me la is it the parents dont give them enough love or they watch too much porn or so on and so forth but it's just a bloody epidemic. One person smokes, the next day the guy sitting next to him will be too. So yours truly comes from a smoker's household, my dad smokes. I've learned that 2nd hand smoke after a ramadhan buffet may just be the best lax combination since coke and condensed milk, but hey, I understand if you smoke. I wouldn't treat you any differently, and yes I will still inhale regularly when hanging out with you.

3) I listen to all kinds of music, seriously!
- I don't have a staple genre of music, I listen to almost everything that attracts anyone to understand what people like these days. Even if I don't like a certain type of music, if it was in your car, I'd still appreciate it somehow. My playlist? Dashboard, Prodigy, Norah Jones, Gavin DeGraw, Sinatra, Tiesto. Any more rojak and you can call this a mamak's official project to take over the world.

4) I don't watch porn.
- Speaks for itself.

5) I think against you when I agree with you.
- Sometimes it sounds like I'm excessively criticizing, but actually I'm just telling you a loophole that I see in your suggestion so that it can be fixed. People these days tend to presume that if you criticize or decline an idea, you're totally against it. If that were true, then I might as well start building a rocket which can take me to another planet where I can apply the same concept, only difference is I give the suggestions and nobody can "go against me" because nobody else is invited anyway! Oh yea, the transcript above would perfectly describe what I'm talking about.

6) I have good bad taste. Directions too.
- Send me on a mission to find the best fine dining restaurant in KL, maybe I'd need Calvin to come along with me. Send me on a mission to find the best roadside hawker food in Malaysia? Now that's my cup of tea. If you ever need to know what cheap good stuff there is to eat around here, feel free. Even if I didn't know what to suggest you, I'm pretty sure I could direct you to the next best thing, street racing scenes and brothels. Just kidding la, my directions are slightly above average, so sue me!

Culinary nostalgia

I have to admit, if there's something worse than me being awake at 2am with a class at 9am, it's me being awake at 2am with a class at 9am, hungry. At this time, it's either too late for me to access the foods of the outside world (outside my room) or I'm just plain lazy to go find it. Then I'll start reminiscing about my favourite childhood foods so much that I start rambling incessantly about them until I finally attract a miraculous force that would lift my arse off this chair to the nearest kitchen where I will find something to bite on which taste far less equivalent to a "childhood favourite food" that I eventually earn diarrhea at around say, 4.30, 5am?

BUT, anyways. Here we go, cannot tahan edi, I need that incentive to go find food.

Pop Tarts. Don't be fooled, you'd think it sounds cute but half of a piece of this mother almost killed me before! It was a boring afternoon after school in primary 5, no homework mah. So I would do as what I usually do, cycle to the local mall to play at the arcade for a short while. Short as in around 3-4 hours depending on who's my arcade buddy that day lah, of course.

What do you know, on that special day, I had an extra RM5 note in my wallet. What, do, you, know. Doing what any other hungry fat little kid would do, I went to the supermarket to buy some snacks to eat since yeah, eating was a hobby, alongside a necessity back then. All of the sudden I saw this big blue box with 2/3 of it pictured the product which was chocolate in colour. Call me naive but, anything with chocolate on the box grabs my attention, if not my money la.

I grabbed one, took a quick look. Hm, Pop Tarts. At first they sounded like instant egg tarts, but that may be because egg tarts were the only tarts that I was familiar to. Looked okay enough, plus it was chocolate (how bad can a Kellogg's product containing chocolate be right?) and so I bought it, took it back home. Popped the first one in the oven, it was wrapped in a nice shiny plastic bag which I conveniently forgot to take out and proceeded to toast the plastic too which rendered the Pop Tart inedible.

Fine, I told myself. 2nd one went in without the wrap, long story short got burned. Mind you I didn't know what the hell Pop Tarts were and to me it was just some square cookie with a random smudge of hardened sugar on top so yeah, the cookie part got burned pretty well. 3rd time's a charm though, took it out just in time and took a bite.

"Wooooaaaa.." I told myself. It's so hot, I barely felt the fudge seering my tongue, but the again I didn't know there was fudge inside it, and that really made me wow when I realized it! So the rest as they say, was history... until 2 years later when the supermarket closed down and others stopped selling Pop Tarts for god knows why.

I'm sad, I miss Pop Tarts. Not to mention spray cheese. Fun food will always have a place in my heart.. *21 gun salute*. Okay, that should do the trick, since I feel like getting up now *bzzzzzzzz*. Thanks, and sorry for wasting your time!
